Wodelands Avenue Project B

Description

The original house contained a small, ground floor bedroom with a side window facing a neighbour’s wall. MVL Architects designed a contemporary Zinc Box extension, which pushes out from the side elevation, to provide an en-suite annex and workshop storage space. The level changes were used to an advantage by allowing the extension to be elevated from the ground, when viewed from the garden, and to provide useful undercroft storage. The front elevation presented a ‘quieter’ form of design (to fit into the general street scene) and hinting at the contemporary, by use of timber cladding and the shallow, curving zinc roof. The space was reoriented with a large sliding door, which focused the view down towards the rear garden.
