After gaining an ONC and HNC at Guildford Technical College and subsequently working for Farnham Urban District Council Planning Department (and a private architectural practice, I set up MVL Architects and Surveyors in 1976.

In 1973 after qualifying as a Member of the Faculty of Architects and Surveyors and serving at local level on the Surrey and Sussex FAS committee as Chair, I was
elected onto the Board of Directors of the Architects and Surveyors Institute and chaired the Profession Practices committee for 6 years.
In 1989 I became a Fellow of the ASI and was elected as Vice President and became involved in European matters, especially in the mutual recognition of professional Surveyors qualifications making representations to the European Commission.
In 1991 I was awarded the Andrew Byrne Cup for work in Europe.
1992/1993 I served as the President of the ASI and represented ASI on European affairs.
2001 I became a Director and Founding Member of the Faculty of Party Wall Surveyors.
2002 I became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
From 2002 to the present time I act as a member of CIOB Local Surrey Centre Committee holding various positions from ordinary member, Chairman and presently Finance manager.
2003 I became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building.
From 2004 to the present time I have acted as Secretary General for the European Group of Surveyors EGoS.
2005 I became a Fellow of the FPWS
2012/2014 I served as President of FPWS
2014 I became a Fellow Chartered Construction Manager of the CIOB

One of my earliest memories is sitting to the side of my fathers drawing board doodling away while the parallel motion bar shot up and down his drawing at lightening speed. Architecture was part of my life from a very young age. Fast forward approximately 15 years (and some 10,000 Lego creations), I read architecture at Plymouth University.
Prior to joining the family practice, I developed my career in some multi national architects practices working in a variety of sectors including private and commercial housing, offices, schools, infrastructure, refurbishment and landscaping.
In 2002 I joined my father at MVL Architects where we have expanded on our success to the present day. When not in the office, my life becomes even more hectic enjoying time with my wife Jo and our two sons Alex and Jake (and another 10,000 Lego creations).

Having developed my career in a number of practices (including large commercial companies, medium sized multi -disciplinary practices and small architectural practices) my experience covers a wide range of sectors : private & metropolitan residential, social housing, retail, healthcare, education, refurbishment & regeneration, office space, conservation and area wide master planning.
I am motivated and committed with a proven track record working on a number of award winning projects.
However, I am a terrible football player, an even worse rugby player but not a bad squash player. Also a petrol-head!

Having started my training in Plymouth, I moved back east to work at MVL. When I’m not at my desk, I’m usually baking cakes, reading or indulging in my love of travel.

I joined the team in September 2015 as a part one architectural assistant. I studied Architectural Technology & Interior Design at the University of Huddersfield, qualifying in 2010. I then went on to study Architecture at the University of Ulster graduating in 2013. My architectural focus is on user perception and experience within the built environment. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, travel and spending time with friends.

Originally from Guildford I studied at the University of Brighton to gain my BA(Hons) in architecture. After working in Brighton for a year post degree I have now moved back to Surrey to start working for MVL. This new role has given me more responsibility and design freedom which I am thoroughly enjoying. In my spare time I am normally mountain biking, skateboarding, or playing football.
