Description
MVL’s sketch scheme offers an initial response to the clients brief as recorded. The elements of the scheme can be divided into a number of options which can be combined to create the required design response.
The sketch scheme shows the maximum redevelopment potential of the office space. The options could be separated into a number of phases and undertaken over a period of time.
Options
1 Entrance sequence
2 Reception and waiting area
3 Social space and informal meeting area
4 Increased number of work stations (ground floor)
5 Atrium and shared space
6 Loft floor – a new floor of accommodation
7 External elevational treatment – over cladding
The sketch scheme improves the quality of the current office accommodation adding new work stations, new meeting spaces, new social spaces and making all year round use of the existing courtyard by adding an atrium and roof top garden space.
To reduce the businesses impact on the environment the sketch scheme considers the use of the atrium space as a passive way to heat and cool the structure. Using the atrium to reduce the heating and cooling requirement reduces the buildings reliance on traditional M&E and therefore reduce running costs.
The atrium has a number of attributes that also helps to maintain a high quality working environment for all.
> High levels of natural light penetration
> Social space
> Connection to nature
> Environmentally response
MVL’s sketch scheme offers an aspirational approach to increasing the occupancy of the current building, considering the environment to improve the quality of the accommodation.
