Bell Street

The client wanted to renovate and extend a tired 1970s house. The existing rooms at entry ground level and basement were poorly laid out and uninhabitable, owing to a lack of natural daylight and poor connection. The rear garden sloped away away from the house, making a rear extension too costly to be viable.
The solution was to rearrange the existing internal layout, add a small replacement side extension and create an open plan living environment. Glazing across the rear elevation opened the space on to the garden, whilst a new internal staircase void combines the basement with the open plan area above but also allows natural daylight to traverse these floors.
The exterior design greatly improves the presence of the building on the street, with simple but meaningful steel framing and articulated glazing adding curb appeal.

We have used MVL, and Chris in particular, for 2 projects now - one being our own house and the other an investment project.
We have been very pleased with the services offered in both cases, and the ideas and plans presented were fantastic, offering creative and practical solutions that we would never have thought of ourselves, whilst also being mindful of our budget.
I have recommended Chris many times and will continue to do so.
